Once known as Faifo, Hoi An was an influential port along the Silk Road. For over 500 years, merchants from China, Japan, France and Portugal settled in the prosperous town resulting in a distinctive blend of culture, cuisine, religions and architecture. In 1999, the town was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site listed for having the most unique architecture in Southeast Asia. It has been restored and protected by both the UNESCO funding and proud locals.
Begin your tour by foot into the heart of Hoi An, a former trading port that welcomed Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab merchants between the 16th to 18th Centuries. Nowadays, Hoi An is famous for its stunning restored architecture, homemade silk, expert tailors, distinctive yellow walls and delicious noodles and seafood. Its relaxed vibe and pedestrian streets make this town a pleasure to discover by foot.
Along with your stroll, stop off at the city’s best cultural landmarks. Start with a wander through the Chua Ong Pagoda, a stunning Chinese-style structure built in 1653 to honour the Chinese general Quan Cong. Then, head onward to the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, famous for the Jinshang Temple dedicated to the goddess of the sea. Since the city’s culture was linked closely with the sea – and the safety of merchant sailors that frequented its shores – this temple is one of the most historic and significant in the entire town.
Finally, wander onward to the 200-year old ancestral Tan Ky House and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. Built by Japanese craftsman and doubling as a temple. Learn about how the bridge was constructed and how it become a major landmark in the city before the guide takes you back to your hotel for overnight stay.

We recommend visiting an Old Town after the dark when it transforms into a mystical row of lights and lanterns. In fact, Hoi An is a big center for paper lantern manufacturers and merchants. Every shop or establishment will have a few lanterns outside, but the real sight is the lantern market. After a stroll through the market, check out the outdoor traditional theatre. You will have a chance to see Vietnamese folk dancers and musicians perform traditional pieces. The theatre runs from 9pm to 10pm at the square on Nguyen Thai Hoc street. It is completely free and open to the public. Before you come back to your hotel, be sure to light a candle box and set it in the water. Many kids sit along the banks of the channel and offer candles to you – remember to make a wish.

The traditional Vietnamese game in Hoi An was so fun. We didn’t understand the songs he sang but it’s like a lucky draw. He sang right after receiving a new number. The rhythm was so mild and interesting. Everyone seemed excited to join.
Thanks for your assistance during our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire adventure.
Happiness is not enough to describe our feeling. We felt lucky to find Vietnam Tour Fun. All hotels we came arranged honeymoon room decoration. Angkor Wat was charming and peaceful. Phuket was wonderful. Burasari Resort was so nice!
My dad and I have just returned from a fantastic trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. The tour was well paced and interesting at every step of the way. The guides were informative and professional and the accommodation was of a good standard. I have already been recommending Vietnam Tour Fun to my friends upon my return home and am now considering booking with them again for our future trip
The tour was well organised and all the hotel and airport pickups went well. The hotels and tours in Cambodia and Hoi An were spectacular. My only improvement would be earlier communication before the initial departure about the visa and airport pick up from Saigon airport as I only received this information 2 days before the departure.
