How long to stay and where to base yourself

The national park is often visited on a day trip from Chiang Mai. Leave your evening free afterwards. If you have only a few nights in the city, one well-chosen nature excursion may be more enjoyable than several consecutive days of long drives.

For a day excursion, you keep your hotel in Chiang Mai. Allow time to rest before and after the outing. An overnight stay in the mountains needs separate accommodation and transfer arrangements.

Getting here and travelling onwards

The outward and return journeys are by road. Bends and changes in elevation are a significant part of the day. Collection times, group size and walking sections depend on the excursion booked.

Weather and the best time to visit

Higher areas can be much cooler than Chiang Mai. Rain, mist and seasonal trail closures may affect the programme. During dry periods, also check air quality in northern Thailand.

Practical tips for your visit

Bring a warm layer and rain protection. Shoes with tread are useful on nature trails. Tell us about motion sickness or walking limitations so we can choose a suitable route.
