Find the beach that suits your stay
01Long Beach and your choice of hotel
The photograph on this page shows Long Beach on Koh Rong. For your stay, consider the accommodation’s access, food options and surroundings. Choose somewhere you will enjoy spending several free days, rather than planning to change beaches every day.
02Arriving at Long Set
BeachWalk’s own arrival information illustrates why the final stretch matters: it gives directions from Long Set Pier and separate arrangements for heavy luggage. These details are specific to the hotel and should not be assumed to apply to every resort.
03An optional day on the water
A snorkelling or boat trip can complement your beach stay. Ask about group size, route, time on the water and inclusions. Wildlife, underwater visibility and glowing plankton are natural phenomena that cannot be guaranteed.
How long to stay and what to expect
Three to five nights leave room for a proper break. With two nights and lengthy transfers, you may have only one free day. Decide whether you prefer a quiet resort with meals on site or an area with more independent choices.
Check room arrangements, air conditioning, beach access, phone coverage or Wi-Fi, and luggage assistance. For anyone with limited mobility, a sandy walk is different from a paved approach. Ask for a clear description of access, not just a distance in metres.
Sihanoukville, the correct pier and your hotel transfer
The island itineraries described here use a confirmed boat connection from Sihanoukville. Tell your accommodation the ferry company, departure time and arrival pier. ‘Koh Rong’ alone is not enough to arrange a pick-up at the correct beach.
The hotel guidance recommends confirming the return ferry in advance and avoiding a ferry crossing on the same day as an international flight. Your actual connection, weather and accommodation arrangements determine the plan. A mainland overnight stay can make the return journey more reliable.
Check sea conditions and the full journey
Beach and crossing conditions need to suit your dates. Good temple weather in Siem Reap does not guarantee a particular boat service. Ask the hotel and transport operator about seasonal changes and cancellation arrangements.
Choose a hotel where you will be happy without daily excursions. In poor weather, a safe onward journey takes priority over an extra activity. Sea conditions, visibility and wildlife cannot be promised as part of a beach package.
Luggage, spending money and inclusions
Bring luggage that is easy to handle on the boat. Protect documents and electronics from water, and confirm help at the pier if needed. Ask your hotel about card payments and cash requirements; facilities vary across the island.
Budget for accommodation, meals, drinks, return transfers and optional activities. Check whether a quoted price includes both the boat journey and the final approach to the hotel. Discuss dietary needs early, especially at secluded resorts with fewer alternatives.
