Your Southeast Asia travel questions, answered
From choosing an itinerary to preparing for arrival, find clear answers to the questions travellers ask us most often.
Planning & booking
How we create your trip together, with clear advice and personal support from our local team.
Can I tailor a tour to my interests?
Yes. Our tour ideas are starting points, and we can adjust the length, route, hotels, pace, activities and free time to suit you. Changes are possible while we plan together. Changes during your trip depend on availability and may involve extra costs.
How does planning a trip with Vietnam Tour Fun work?
Tell us your travel dates, interests and priorities. A travel specialist will discuss the details with you and prepare an initial itinerary. We refine the route, hotels and included services together until the trip feels right for you, then confirm your booking.
Does sending an enquiry commit me to a booking?
No. Your initial enquiry and personal travel consultation are free, with no obligation to book.
How quickly will a travel specialist reply?
We usually reply within one working day. A detailed first proposal for a more complex itinerary may take a little longer.
Will we travel with other guests?
Our tailor-made journeys are planned around your own travel party. Your quote will clearly identify private transfers, guides and excursions, as well as any shared cruises, transport or group activities included in the itinerary.
Hotels, transfers & meals
How we choose accommodation, arrange transport and guides, and plan your included meals.
How do you choose hotels?
We look at location, cleanliness, service, character, quiet surroundings and value. Depending on your preferences, we can include boutique hotels, locally run properties, upscale resorts or simpler accommodation. There may be fewer choices in remote areas.
How are transfers and drivers arranged?
Private transfers use suitable air-conditioned vehicles, chosen for your group size, route and luggage. The driver, fuel, tolls and transfer services listed in your confirmed quote are included in the agreed tour price.
Which meals are included?
This depends on your itinerary. Breakfast is included at most hotels, and other included meals are clearly marked in the daily programme. Please tell us early about allergies, food intolerances or vegetarian and vegan preferences.
How do you select local experiences and guides?
We choose experiences that reflect the destination and fit comfortably into your itinerary. For guides, we consider experience, reliability, language skills and local knowledge.
Flights, payment & insurance
Practical information about international flights, payments, date changes and travel insurance.
Do you book international flights?
International long-haul flights are usually excluded from our tailor-made land arrangements. We can help you identify practical flight connections and arrival times so your itinerary works smoothly around them.
How do payments work?
Your personal quote and booking confirmation explain the payment schedule, due dates and available payment methods. Any applicable bank or card fees are shown before you pay.
Is travel insurance included?
No. Please arrange suitable travel insurance for your trip, including medical cover and any cancellation or curtailment cover you need. Check that your policy covers the destinations and activities in your itinerary.
Can I change my departure date after booking?
Usually, provided the booked services can still be changed. Issued tickets, special hotel rates and last-minute changes may involve fees or a difference in price. We will explain any costs before confirming the change.
Visas & entry requirements
Where to check visa and arrival requirements for Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
Can Vietnam Tour Fun help with my visa?
We do not issue visas or decide who can enter a country, but we can guide you through the preparation. We can help you find official application websites, understand the forms and identify the documents to prepare for your route.
Requirements depend on your nationality, passport, travel dates, length of stay and entry point. Check the relevant government or embassy guidance before travel; the destination’s authorities make the final decision.
Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
This depends on your nationality and length of stay. Some travellers qualify for a visa exemption; others need to arrange a visa. Check the official requirements for your passport and itinerary, including whether you will enter Vietnam more than once.
We can help you find the official application route and prepare the information you need.
Do I need a visa for Laos?
Check the requirements for your nationality and the border crossing in your itinerary. Laos offers an eVisa service for eligible travellers, but an eVisa is not accepted at every entry point.
We can help you check the planned crossing and identify the relevant visa and arrival formalities before you apply.
Do I need a visa for Cambodia?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and travel arrangements. Check the official eVisa website for eligibility, permitted entry points and the type of visa you need.
Also check the separate Cambodia e-Arrival requirements for your journey. An arrival registration does not replace a visa when one is required.
Do I need a visa for Thailand?
Check whether your passport and planned stay qualify for visa-exempt entry or require a visa. The permitted length of stay and any extension depend on the rules applying to your circumstances.
Check the official Thailand Digital Arrival Card guidance as part of your pre-arrival preparation. Use the official website; the arrival card service is free.

What if my trip includes several countries?
We work through the sequence with you: how long you will stay, how many times you will enter each country, which borders you will cross and which digital arrival forms apply. This helps you prepare the right steps for Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand in the right order.
Requirements can change at short notice. We can help you prepare, but only the relevant authorities and embassies can give an official decision.
During your trip
Answers about changes of plan, tipping, homestays and help from our local team.
What happens if plans change while we are travelling?
Our local team remains your point of contact during the trip. If flights, weather, illness or other unexpected circumstances affect your plans, we help adjust the locally booked services where possible.
How much should I tip?
Tipping is voluntary and should reflect your satisfaction with the service. Tips for guides and drivers are common in many parts of Southeast Asia, but are not compulsory. Your travel specialist can offer country-specific guidance before departure.
What should I expect from a homestay?
Facilities are usually simpler than in a hotel, with a more personal introduction to everyday local life. Your itinerary explains the facilities available at each homestay. Bring your own basic toiletries and personal essentials.
