Archive: In summer 2024, Ho Chi Minh City announced a campaign combining night-flight offers with participating hotel discounts. These were time-limited promotions, rather than standing offers for future bookings.
The city’s Department of Tourism presented the initiative on 15 July 2024, aiming to encourage arrivals on flights operating between 9 pm and 6 am during the summer peak.
The campaign brought airlines, accommodation providers and travel companies together to make late arrivals more appealing. Packages and conditions differed between participating businesses.
Hotels announced first-night discounts ranging from 20% to a complimentary night, with separate conditions for subsequent nights. Minimum stays and eligible room types depended on the hotel.
Examples reported at the time included:
- Dong Khanh Hotel offered a complimentary first night under its promotional conditions. The Myst Dong Khoi announced discounts for both the first and later nights.
- Muong Thanh Luxury Saigon reported a first-night discount with a minimum three-night stay.
- Liberty Central Saigon announced a discounted first night, followed by its applicable room rates.
- A25 Hotel offered different packages for two-night and three-night stays, with discounts varying by night.
Vietnam Airlines was expected to work with participating businesses on packages combining return flights and two or three hotel nights.
The initiative formed part of preparations for a busy summer at Tan Son Nhat Airport, with both arriving and departing passenger traffic expected to rise.
The city reported more than 19.7 million domestic and international visitor arrivals in the first half of 2024, providing the backdrop to the campaign.
The original announcement covered selected routes from Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City.
